Hyderabad: In yet another instance of political leaders abusing power, YSR Congress Party MP Midhun Reddy reportedly slapped an Air India Airport Manager in Tirupati. He was upset after the manager failed to accommodate the MP's relative after the boarding time was over.
Midhun Reddy is Lok Sabha MP from Rajampet in Andhra Pradesh. A criminal case has been registered against a YSR Congress MP from Andhra Pradesh and an investigation is underway. Midhun Reddy went to the cabin of AI manager at the airport Rajasekhar and picked up an "argument" with him regarding boarding passes for his relatives for a flight.
He later allegedly "shouted" at the manager before allegedly slapping him, Yerpedu police station sub-inspector Ramakrishnaiah said based on a complaint lodged by the victim.
Reacting to this Mithun Reddy told IBNLive that there is no CCTV footage to prove the slapping incident. He said, "The story is false. The Air India person misbehaved me and later apologised and the matter was sorted out. Later in the night ruling TDP forced Air India manager to file a false complaint. Air India has no evidence. The TDP is harrassing me and local Police were not registering my counter complaint. Finally they agreed to register my complaint."
He said that he is meeting Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Monday to lodge a complaint against Air India and Andhra Pradesh Police. He added that he will take a delegation of MPs from his party and also alleged that he is being falsely implicated by the TDP government in Andhra Pradesh.
Following the complaint, a case was registered on Thursday night against the MP along with his 15 other followers under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 448 (house-trespass) of IPC, he said.
Some passengers, who were to board the flight, had also complained to the MP that the manager had allegedly misbehaved with them, after which Reddy went to Rajasekhar's cabin. Midhun Reddy represents Rajampet constituency in Kadapa district of the state.
