In the last few years, there has been a significant rise in instances of human-leopard conflict in Maharashtra’s Pune district, especially around the forest division and the surrounding areas. From leopards attacking residents to pet animals, multiple attacks have been reported from different locations. In a recent one, an attack was reported from Pune’s Dholwad where a leopard was chased away by two brave dogs after it attacked one of the canines. The video capturing the entire sequence of events is now going viral on social media.

The viral video shows two dogs who were initially being chased by the leopard that happened to have entered the residential area. After the big cat attacked one of the dogs, the other one came around to its rescue. This is when the two dogs exhibited a daring display of courage and managed to scare the predator away.

The surveillance footage has captured the chase that seemingly took place inside residential society.

Many users are praising the dogs for their courage and brave action for a fellow dog.

Notably, this is not the first time that a leopard attack has been reported from Pune. Multiple such incidents come up on a yearly basis, with many also losing their lives.

Leopards in Maharashtra

Recently, two leopards were spotted roaming around Maharashtra’s Nashik city, which led to huge panic among residents. One of the animals has been caught by forest officials while they are searching for the other. While the first one was seen in the Savata Nagar area, the other was spotted over 5 kms away in Govind Nagar. Surveillance footage from the areas later showed the two big cats moving in and out of houses and walking around in narrow lanes of the city.

After the leopards were found roaming in the area creating panic in the area, officials from the forest department were informed who later swung into action. One of the leopards was caught with the help of tranquilizers.

In another incident from Pune’s Manchar area, a leopard was spotted attacking a pet dog after it jumped over a boundary wall of a property. Apart from that, another incident was reported in March this year where a leopard attacked a farmer’s pet dog. The dog was tied to a leash and thus failed to escape the attack and lost its life.
