Sharmila Tagore is among the most popular veteran actresses in Bollywood. The actress was at the peak of her career in the 1960s and enjoyed a massive fan following among the audience. Throughout her career, she has been the recipient of various accolades and has also been honoured with two National Awards. The actress married Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, in 1968. Their relationship had been the talk of the town for a long time until they got married. During one of her interviews, Sharmila Tagore revealed that she had put a condition in front of Tiger Pataudi before marrying him.

As per reports, before the couple decided to get married, they dated for a long time. Reportedly, the couple met through common friends. It was an after-match party in Delhi, where Sharmila had gone to see the match. She admitted she had limited knowledge of cricket at the time. Similarly, Mansoor Ali Khan hadn’t seen many of her films. After dating, ‘Tiger’ Pataudi decided to propose to her. But then, she put a condition before him that she would only marry him if he hit three consecutive sixes in the next match. Upon hearing the condition, he laughed it off and scored three consecutive sixes in the next match. The couple then got married in a lavish wedding.

Sharmila Tagore also talked about the struggles that she had to face before marrying Mansoor Ali Khan. She added that her interfaith marriage raised a lot of eyebrows. She said, “In my family, everybody, my uncle, my cousins, they were all married to Bengalis and in Tiger’s family, they were all married to their own, from their community. So Tiger and I were the only people, and we just announced to our respective families that we were getting married, Then I was working and he was playing cricket, so we didn’t know what the background angsts were.”

The couple later gave birth to three beautiful children, Saif Ali Khan, Saba Ali Khan and Soha Ali Khan.
