Apple Watch records heart rate every 10 minutes, but not when you are moving
The software update has removed the ability of the Apple Watch to record heart rate irrespective of body movements.

New Delhi: The much-hyped Apple Watch came with a feature that reliably recorded a wearer’s heart rate every ten minutes, without fail. With the latest update to its software, users started complaining about discrepancy in its monitoring. However, the tech giant has assured that it is not a bug, but a deliberate software design.

Apple has clarified on its product page that while the Apple Watch attempts to measure your heart rate every ten minutes, it won’t record it when you are in motion or your arm is moving. The original 1.0 Watch OS did not base its reading on body movements.

A report on 9to5 Mac notes that this software update has caused many users to believe the device as losing functionality as the original version recorded heart rate without any issues.

While some argue that the change in behavior is aimed at conserving battery life of the smartwatch, it raises questions about the purpose and reliability of the feature in the first place.

For those who expected their Apple Watch to be the ultimate gadget while working out are likely to be disappointed with the latest deliberate glitch. However, you can use the Workout app to force continuous heart rate monitoring by the smartwatch while you exercise. Only downside, you will have to remember to activate the mode every time you want regular monitoring.

What's your reaction?
