Shark Tank India is one of the most talked-about business reality TV shows, and the third season is undoubtedly living up to its reputation. With a larger panel of 12 sharks, the new season has become even more exciting. Shark Tank India has grabbed viewers from the start with its unusual premise of aspiring entrepreneurs pitching their ideas to possible investors. The sharks negotiate after the entrepreneurs make their pitch. But in the latest episode, a candidate got her exact deal, and it has a Bollywood connection.
A solo founder on a recent episode of Shark Tank India Season 3 received the exact deal she desired, which is unusual on the show. Simran Khara is the founder of Koparo, which is a brand that sells sustainable and plant-based home cleaning products. The highlight of the product was that it uses coconuts as a main ingredient. Simran stated that she came up with the idea for her products after noticing a significant gap in the market for natural cleaning solutions during the Covid-19 pandemic. The concept charmed all of the sharks in the panel who started making their offers.
The founder asked for Rs 70 lakh for one percent of the company. After reviewing her company’s finances, Anupam Mittal was the first to propose a deal worth Rs 70 lakh for 1.23%, which he later modified to 1.6%. Simran was not quite happy about the offer. Soon after, Aman Gupta stepped in and made a reference to Kajol’s character Simran from Dilwale Duhaniya Le Jayenge. He said, “Simran ji, ek toh DDLJ ke baad Simran ji bolne ka bada mann kar raha tha. (Simran ji, after DDLJ, I felt like calling you Simran ji.) The founder seemed interested in the offer Aman Gupta had to make and seemed impressed by his marketing strategy. She expressed, “Aman main aapko chadha nahi rahi hun par jaise aap digitally native brand building jaante hain na, mujhe nahi lagta aise koi… (Aman, I am not praising you but the way you know how to build a native brand digitally, I don’t think there is anyone better )”. Aman Gupta was convinced and said,“Yahi sunne ki main wait kar raha tha (I was waiting to hear this).
Since Simran is a solo founder, she wishes to get support in the form of a business partner who can mentor her further. Towards the end, Aman Gupta and Vineeta Singh provided her with the exact deal she was seeking.
