In Bihar's Purnia, 10-month-old Baby Swallows Mother's Hair Clip

Babies are very sensitive; they need proper care and attention. While handling babies, if one makes any mistake or is inattentive, it can lead to any kind of accident. Recently, a similar shocking incident has garnered attention from the Purnia district in Bihar. Here, a 10-month-old child swallowed his mother’s hair clip.

According to reports, as soon as the mother fell asleep, the 10-month-old child playing nearby swallowed the clip that was stuck to the mother’s hair. As soon as the child swallowed the clip, his condition became critical. The parents rushed the baby to the nearest doctor. But all the doctors refused to take the case seriously. Time was passing, and the child was having difficulty breathing.

Lastly, the parents took the child to the Government Medical College Hospital in Purnia. The doctors present on the spot informed the hospital superintendent, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, about the incident. Dr Kumar immediately assigned his team, including Dr Tarakeshwar Kumar and Dr Vikas Kumar, who were on duty, to treat the child. With the help of the facilities available in the hospital, the team started trying to remove the clip from the child’s stomach. After about 3 hours of hard work and surgery, the hair clip was finally removed from the child’s stomach.

After this critical surgery, the team of doctors at Purnia Government Medical College Hospital appealed to the parents of the baby that they should not give him small toys to play with. When teeth are about to come, then the child likes to chew something or another in their mouth all the time. If small toys are given to the child, then they can swallow them. One should keep pins, clips, sharp objects, insecticides, poisonous and flammable substances, hair clips, pen batteries and small toys away from small children. Along with this, parents should keep an eye on small children.

Earlier, a similar incident went viral. A mother shared her harrowing story in a bid to warn parents of the dangers of leaving small objects around kids. Amelia was watching TV when her husband suddenly noticed that their baby was trying to cry and grabbing her throat, but no noise was coming out. After some time, they realised that the two-year-old had swallowed a hair clip. Both of them panicked, but the dad kept going with the back blows, and luckily the object dislodged.
