Man Slaps Railway Staff For Serving Non-Veg Meal, Passengers Ask Him To Apologise To Staff
The incident reportedly took place in a Vande Bharat Express, which was en route to Ranchi from Howrah.

A shocking video of a passenger reportedly slapping a server after being mistakenly served non-veg food from the Vande Bharat Express has surfaced online. The passenger, probably a vegetarian, was furious after he ate the food and realised it was a non-vegetarian meal. The man did not pay attention to the veg and non-veg markings on the meal before trying it. Now some videos are going viral where a group of passengers are asking the man to apologise to the server.

Amid the commotion, some people loudly criticise the man for “hitting a poor worker”. Someone mentions that the server apologised for his mistake but the man continued to berate him. The police are also seen entering the train coach but it’s unclear if any action was taken for physical assault of the railway worker. The incident reportedly took place on July 26 on a Vande Bharat Express train that was en route from Howrah to Ranchi.

In the comments, many people expressed criticism towards the passenger who hit the server. An X user wrote, “The whole point of vegetarianism is non-violence and if you are hitting people you are actually in violation of the non-violence.”

Another person wrote, “The world is a better place because of the good Samaritan like these, everyone needs to stand against wrong, this is much required in present situations.”

An X user shared a quote from the Harry Potter book series that said, “If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.”

Someone X wrote, “These people have no audacity to question the rich & powerful who are partying in times of mass human suffering. But always ready to harass some of the most vulnerable people in the world.”

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) offers both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals to passengers. In 2023, IRCTC had to dismiss rumours that the railways would not serve non-vegetarian food to passengers during the month of Shravan when many Hindus refrain from non-vegetarian food.
