Looks like TikTok is serving some brilliant memes and trends and other platforms simply jump on to the bandwagon. Given how rapidly trends change — memes may emerge and go in a matter of days — it can be challenging to stay up to speed with them. In case you’re among those who enjoy monitoring things, you may have heard of the “ketchup challenge”.
This challenge, essentially a relationship test, included one person —typically a woman —intentionally spilling ketchup on a table or the kitchen counter and then asking their partner —typically a man — to clean it up. The same task was taken on by one brother, and the sister nailed it.
The Instagram video shows the brother dripping ketchup in a circular shape on a kitchen counter with a dot in the centre. To put his sister to test, he stands back and observes how she cleans up the mess.
The girl begins by covering a chopping board with wax paper. Then, softly pulling the paper, she slides the board. This causes the ketchup to transfer smoothly and residue-free on wax paper in the same manner as it was on the counter. In a couple of seconds, our counter is clear.
The video has more than 22 million views with a comments section impressed by the clever approach.
A user commented, “I’m convinced your sister has unlocked another part of her brain.”
Another user stated, “How on earth did she discover that.”
“Literally a genius… she needs to be protected”, read a comment.
Making a hilarious exaggeration, a user said, “She even cleansed my soul and saved me from hell.”
In other viral videos, men are seen failing the test, acting weirdly, giving the test-taker the cold shoulder, arguing over who created the mess, and lamenting the wasted ketchup.
Meanwhile, the TikTok trend revealed weaponised incompetence. According to Psychology Today, it’s a psychological approach when a person intentionally fails at a task so badly to make someone else realise how incompetent they are and finish it for them.
