Social media is one such platform, where an individual can freely speak out their mind without being feared of getting judged. These social networking sites are also the podiums where one can discuss their lives with the hope of getting some solutions to problems or simply to have healthy conversation on any relevant topic. However, in today’s era when in no time, posts and clips go viral; it is always recommended to refrain from posting any stuff that can backfire. A recent incident is a perfect example of this.
A Bengaluru techie just had his worst nightmare come true after putting a post on platform X (Formerly Twitter). Jishnu Mohan, a programmer for Forma (formerly Twic) was laid off on February 8 – just a day after he tweeted about his low confidence level in his career.

That was quick. I got laid off today, as part of reorg. So actively looking for a job now. Please let me know if anyone is hiring. https://t.co/CqGWYQbgY6

According to a Moneycontrol report, Mohan was laid off from his position of software engineer at Forma as part of a larger company restructuring. He had joined the life benefits platform in 2019 and worked there for four years. At the time he was laid off, Mohan had been a full-time remote employee working out of Kochi, Kerala.
“The whole recession situation in tech is making me uneasy. May be at the lowest confidence level in my career,” he had tweeted on February 7. Less than 24 hours later, Mohan shared an update about being laid off by his respective IT firm. “That was quick. I got laid off today, as part of a reorganisation. So I am actively looking for a job now. Please let me know if anyone is hiring,” Mohan appealed to the hiring managers.
Instantly, his comments section was filled with leads to open positions and requests for his CV. Several people shared job openings, while others promised to forward Mohan’s resume to the organisations, looking for human resource as per his essential qualification and experience.
The funding winter that cast a gloom over the tech industry in 2023 has continued to claim jobs in 2024 as well, Moneycontrol report suggests. In addition, this year, tech giants like Meta, Google and Microsoft have carried out workforce reductions. Earlier this week, Snapchat parent Snap also announced a 10 percent cut in its global workforce.
