Winning a lottery is a dream come true for many. People often turn their luck around by hitting the jackpot and becoming millionaires overnight. Similarly, a woman turned out to be extremely fortunate after she opened her fortune cookie and won $50,000 (approx Rs 41.5 lakhs). It is often believed that if luck is on your side, every move turns out to be right. It looks like she was fortunate enough, not once, but twice and won money. Tierra Barley, a resident of Virginia, the USA turned out to be quite lucky. She not only became a millionaire overnight, she was almost on the verge of losing money. But it was fate that had her back and turned her fortunes. As per reports, Tierra Barley bought a lottery ticket at the Varina Superstore Supermarket in Henrico, near northwest of Richmond. She played the numbers she found inside the fortune cookie and almost lost everything. But it was a stroke of good luck once again that made her a risk.
The winning numbers were 7-41-43-44-51, and the Powerball number was 5. The woman matched four of the five and Powerball numbers based on the numbers inside the fortune cookie in the May 8 lottery draw. She almost lost her ticket right before drawing. Reportedly, she bought the lottery ticket but forgot it at the store while she took her daughter out to the park. She went back to the store and with some help, she was lucky enough to find the ticket.
As per reports, the odds of matching all six numbers to win the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
This makes her overall odds of winning any Powerball prize a 1 in 25. She matched four out of five numbers based on the lucky numbers of the May 8 lucky draw. If someone had matched all the six numbers then, that person would have hit the mega jackpot. All funds from the lottery go to education in the Old Dominion.
