DUBLIN: New Zealand-born wing James Lowe is one of three uncapped backs in the Ireland squad for the Autumn Nations Cup starting next week.
Lowe joined Leinster in 2017 and became eligible for Ireland this week on the three-year residency rule. The New Zealand Maori and Chiefs flyer headed overseas when he wasnt happy with a new contract offer from the New Zealand Rugby Union.
He’s helped Leinster win the European Cup in 2018 and the Pro14 the last three seasons.
The other new backs are Muster utility Shane Daly and Ulster flyhalf Billy Burns.
Veteran utility Keith Earls has recovered from a back injury, and Lions lock Iain Henderson is available after a three-week ban.
Ireland hosts Wales at Lansdowne Road on Nov. 13 in the Nations Cup opener, and faces England and Georgia.
