The latest episode of WWE SmackDown opened with Randy Orton addressing an emphatic crowd at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma. The Viper became nostalgic after returning to the Friday Night show after a long time. He then spoke about his bond with Cody Rhodes, who is set to team up with Roman Reigns in the upcoming Bad Blood. Orton seems to have been left heartbroken after seeing Rhodes and Reigns together. The Undisputed WWE Champion showed up at the arena and revealed that he would join forces with Reigns in the next PLE to take down the newly formed Bloodline, led by Solo Sikoa.
While all of these were going on, Kevin Owens joined Rhodes and Orton in the ring. The trio was then confronted by Sikoa, who bragged about his dominance over the alliance. That’s when Owens challenged the self-proclaimed Bloodline chief to a tag-team match. Rhodes also wanted to feature in the bout but was stopped by Orton.
Later on the show, it was announced that AJ Styles would come back to SmackDown. The seven-time champions are slated to feature in the next episode of the weekly show. Nia Jax met Tiffany Stratton backstage and blamed her tag-team partner for their defeat in the last SmackDown episode. Andrade and LA Knight also engaged in a verbal altercation. Carmelo Hayes interfered and knocked down Knight.
Now, let’s take a look at the results of matches that unfolded on September 27’s episode of WWE SmackDown:
Bayley vs Naomi:
The duo faced off to secure a spot in the Women’s Championship match at Bad Blood. Bayley pinned Naomi with an elbow drop off the top rope to win the #1 Contender’s Match. In the next PLE, Nia Jax will defend her Women’s title against Bayley.
Carmelo Hayes vs Andrade:
When Carmelo Hayes and Andrade were trading strikes, LA Night came out of nowhere to cause a distraction. As soon as Andrade turned to Knight, Hayes rolled his opponent to secure an easy win.
Michin vs Piper Niven:
Michin was dominating the match when Chelsea Green intervened. It allowed Piper Niven to take down her opponent with a cannonball. Niven attempted the same move again but this time, Michin was ready to dodge it. Michin then used Eat the Feet to claim a pinfall victory.
Kevin Owens & Randy Orton vs The Bloodline:
Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu were beating KO when Randy Orton came up with back-to-back power slams. The Viper then took out Sikoa with the draping DDT. Tama Tonga tried to run a distraction but was crushed by Cody Rhodes. The Bloodline was already down but no official was available to count. KO was left confused and Sikoa took the opportunity to knock him down.
