A total of five judges have been appointed to select the best of the breeds.

In Karnataka’s Dodballapura city, natives are in for a surprise as they are going to witness a unique bull festival at the Ghati Subramanya temple. According to Local 18 Kannada, this festival had not been held for the past three years in Dodballapura. It is being organised after a long time and will be held on January 16. A large number of natives are eager to watch it. The theme of the festival is a unique blend of tradition and style. It involves judging bulls based on their walking style, skin colour, and height. Farmers have arrived at the venue of the competition from different parts of Karnataka with their bulls. A total of five judges have been appointed to select the best of the breeds. One of these judges is from a veterinary university and the other is from the Bangalore Rural District. The whereabouts of the other judges are not known. The cows will be divided into four categories based on their breed, shape, height, and their colour. After analysing their performance on these four parameters, they will be rewarded. Farmers will also be required to lead their cows for a short distance to judge how they walk. Farmers have brought the best of their breeds to the venue and will be awarded cash prizes, if their animals win the competition.

This fair is a major delight to the farmers as they have been looking towards it for the past three years. Their eagerness can be proved by the fact that they preserved the best of their breeds for this competition. One of the farmers didn’t sell the bulls of the Hallikar breed, even though the selling price of the animals was Rs 6 lakh. According to the Dairy Knowledge portal, the Hallikar breed is also known as Mysore. The breed is considered the best draught breed of Southern India. The breeding tract comprises the Mysore, Mandya, Bangalore, Kolar, Tumkur, Hassan, and Chitradurga districts of Karnataka. It is white to light grey. Young breeding bulls have dark shades on the shoulder and hindquarters. Their horns emerge near each other from the top of the poll and are carried straight, upward, and backward.
