Boat sinks after hitting sandbank

KOCHI: A small boat, hired by the Southern Naval Command on rent for surveillance purpose, submerged in the Kochi backwaters after it hit a sandbank. There was no one in the boat except the driver and no casualty has been reported.Naval authorities said the boat was sent back after it was found damaged. The driver was rescued by the people in another boat which was plying nearby and the boat was towed to the Subhas Park.
