CHENNAI: The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CDMA) has decided to set up two satellite inter-city bus terminals, one at Madhavaram and the other near the MRTS station at Velacherry, at a total cost of Rs 80 crore. Madhavaram terminal, which is estimated to cost Rs 32 crore, will come up in an area of eight acres within the Madhavaram bus and truck terminal by shifting some of the bus services through the GNT Road.
The other terminal will come up at the vacant site measuring about 12 acres within the 15 acres site located near the Velacherry Mass Rapid Transit System railway Station (as part of the bus inter-change to the Mass Rapid Transit System) by shifting some of the bus services through the East Coast Road and Old Mahabalipuram Road. This terminal will come up at an estimated cost of `48 crore.
The CMDA will prepare necessary feasibility reports on these terminals by itself or will get these reports prepared by the Tamil Nadu Urban Infrastructure Financial Services Limited.
