BANGALORE: Governor H R Bhardwaj has reiterated his stand on the delay in appointment of the Lokayukta in the state. On Monday, he said that he wants the state government to bring another name on the table, thereby improving its reputation. “The delay in appointment is not because of me. As the appointing authority, I am determined to see the right person taking the post,” he said. Denying any constitutional crisis over issues relating to the appointment of Lokayukta, the Governor said: “Consultations are on, which is a matter of mutual trust. It is the government’s reputation which is at stake, not mine.”On former Lokayukta Santosh Hegde, he said: “I have great respect for him. After him, if the profile of the candidate is not satisfactory, I cannot make an appointment. Besides, I did not make Justice Bannurmath look bad. The press wrote against him.” Urging the government to refrain from pressure tactics, he said he would go ahead with the “right” appointment without bothering the CM.
