SALEM: About 20 activists of the Tamil Nadu People’s Rights Movement were arrested on Saturday, for holding a demo at the venue of South India Beauty Pageant, against allowing contestants from Kerala. Later, police allowed the organisers to conduct the programme taking a written assurance from them that no Kerala women will participate in the contest. The activists also gave in writing that they accepted the statement of the organisers and will not interrupt the programme.
