Kin of rain victims granted solatium

CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Sunday expressed grief over the death of 34 persons in rain-related incidents and  announced a solatium of `one lakh each to the families of the victims.The CM also condoled the death of Sarala (24), a teacher working in a private school, when she slipped and fell into a pit filled with rainwater at T Nagar on November 5. She granted a solatium of ` two lakh to the family of Sarala. Following this incident, the CM directed the Corporation to put up warning boards wherever drainage works are being done to avoid such incidents.
