BANGALORE: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) said that they did not attack Bangalore University’s Vice-Chancellor N Prabhu Dev. Dismissing reports alleging their role in the recent attack on the Vice-Chancellor, ABVP leader Thammesh Gowda said that there was no evidence to prove their role in the alleged incident.Speaking to media on Thursday, Gowda said “Let there be an inspection into the incident. It will prove that we were not involved.” Condemning the attack on B R Niranjan, director of Correspondence Courses and Distance Education, BU, he said ABVP does not endorse actions of members of Sri Rama Sene.Members of the ABVP also demanded that the state government introduce a Student Grievance Bill on the same lines of Central Government’s Grievance Mechanism Bill. Additionally, Gowda also said that ABVP has submitted a list of demands to the Vice-Chancellor. The demands include strengthening of the grievance cell at the university, better infrastructure in hostels and Jnanabharathi campus and strict action against colleges failing to provide results on time.“We will meet the Vice-Chancellor on Friday to hear his response. If it is not favorable, we will continue the struggle,” said Gowda.SFI Stages Protest Protesting against the attack on Niranjan, the Students Federation of India urged Governor H R Bhardwaj to take action.
