Textbook distribution begins Thursday

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Text Book Corporation announced that the distribution of free textbooks to schools across the State will commence on Thursday. The TNTBC also said it has made arrangements for private schools to get their books from Thursday.A press release stated that all textbooks have been dispatched to various regional centres and called for officials, headmasters and principals to coordinate so that distribution is smooth. The free textbooks will be dispatched to schools from their respective depots and the headmasters will distribute the books after the Class IX exam results are published. Chief Educational Officers will oversee the distribution across their respective jurisdictions. Private schools have been asked to coordinate with their respective school inspectors to fix a date and time when they can collect the five text books from the depots after the payment is made through demand draft.  To ensure smooth delivery of textbooks to the matriculation schools in Chennai, the Tamil Nadu Text Book Corporation said that the  textbooks meant for schools in a certain area will be delivered to one school, from where it can be distributed amongst the others.Textbook depots will remain open on April 28 and 29 (Saturday and Sunday) to facilitate distribution.  The price for Class X text books is `70 per book.
