Heads up, Ina Garten fans, a new TV show is coming your way.
After teaching viewers how to make the perfect roast chicken and host an elegant dinner party that friends will be talking about for months, the domestic doyenne best known as the Barefoot Contessa will be teaching home cooks how to "Cook Like a Pro," the title of her next TV show.
Garten shared the news on Twitter recently, posing in a photo with her assistant Lidey Heuck and a chocolate ganache cake.
"Fun today filming with Lidey for my new series "Cook Like a pro" on @FoodNetwork! Airing mid-May; stay tuned! #CookLikeAPro #barefootcontessa," she tweeted to her fans and followers.
After 15 years of filming "Barefoot Contessa" cooking shows for the Food Network, Garten's next TV project will take a different turn, and teach viewers how to master cooking techniques, rather than recipes, she told Today.com.
"[The show] is a little more fine-grained than my other show, which is more like my friends are coming for dinner," Garten said in an interview with Today.
"I want to teach people techniques instead of recipes. I just want to answer all of people's questions on how to cook."
That means learning how to properly saute a pepper, chop an onion or cut a cauliflower in way that doesn't send cauliflower bits flying all over the kitchen, she said.
Likewise, she'll teach viewers how to cut vegetables in a way that optimizes their flavor when roasted and lends a certain esthetic to a dish.
Over on Instagram a few weeks ago, Garten divulged tricks of the pastry trade, showing followers how to turn a chocolate ganache cake into a dessert worthy of a professional bakery showcase with a chevron design created with a few simple lines and well-placed strokes of a knife.
The same cake is featured in her Twitter announcement.
"Cook Like a Pro" is set to air on the Food Network in May.
