Many people prefer buying everyday food items in bulk to save money since the goods are offered at discounted prices. However, that is not always the case as one recent post on X revealed how coffee companies might be charging customers more for glass bottles than pouches, which cost less. A woman facing “month-end crises,” shared her calculations to determine which option, sachets or coffee jars, is more profitable.
The woman mentioned buying a 4-gram coffee pouch for Rs 10, which equates to Rs 2.5 per gram. However, when purchasing a 90-gram coffee jar, they paid Rs 350 instead of the expected Rs 225 based on the price per gram. The user concluded by questioning whether they paid an extra Rs 125 simply because they purchased a glass bottle.
The self-described tea addict from Delhi, who is struggling during the month end said, “On today’s episode of life, I calculated the cost of Nescafe Classic, and here is the math: A 4g pouch costs Rs. 10, which means 1 gram is worth 2.5 rupees. But I bought a 90-gram bottle and it cost me Rs. 350, which should have cost Rs. 225. So, did I pay 125 for a glass bottle?”

One user recommended that it is better to buy Rs 2 pouches. They discovered that if someone buys five pouches, you would get more grams of coffee than you bought a pack worth Rs 10.
yes. i did the math as well and you should buy ₹2 pouches instead. ₹2×5 pouches will give you more grams than a ₹10 pack.— vani (@paneerchillli) May 30, 2024
Another user pointed out that there may be a difference in the quality of coffee between the pouches and the jar. They compared the scenario with shampoo.
Surely there is a difference in the quality of coffee in both the packs..Same case with shampoo.— Ravi Raj (@Ravi_R_aj) May 30, 2024
An individual shared their strategy, stating that they always buy Rs 2 pouches for the same reason. They also mentioned that the red cup is not free.
Yup that's the maths. I always buy Rs.2 pouches for exact same reason. And the red cup is not free either.— Anish Kumar (@Anish976) May 30, 2024

A user said, “That makes sense, every coffee shop will tell you the cost of the cup is way more than the water, beans and milk.”
