BANGALORE: The city’s East division police have cracked 109 cases in the last two months and have arrested sixty five persons in this connection. Booty worth over Rs 1.9 crore have been recovered from the accused.The Halasur police solved a jewellery shop theft case by arresting two men and recovered total worth Rs 1.08 crore. The accused are Parasaram alias Paras (28) and Nathuram (25), both natives of Rajasthan. On June 23 night, they allegedly robbed Puja Jewellers, which is located opposite to Halasur police station. The shop is located on the ground floor and the accused dug open the first floor, where a restaurant was located and was shut down two and a half years ago, to gain entry into the shop.According to the police, accused Paras was working at a jewellery shop run by one of the relatives of Jai Chand, the owner of Puja jewels. He hatched a plot to loot the shop and conspired with his brother-in-law Nathuram. After burglary the duo shared the booty and were absconding in different parts of the country.“The police team had visited Mumbai, Rajashthan and other states to nab the accused and finally they were caught in Rajasthan,” the police added.n another case, the K G Halli police arrested Madhusoodhan alias Madan (31) for allegedly cheating a businessman in a money-doubling scheme. The police said that Madan along with his associates Rajesh alias David and Abdul Rauf alias Harry had approached Hemanth, a businessman in K G Halli, and had promised him a sum Rs 1 crore, if he invested Rs 85 lakh with them. Trusting them, Hemanth gave them the money on June 18 and they assured him of crediting Rs 1 crore to his account. Hemanth did not get his money back and realised that he had been duped and filed a case with the police leading to the arrest of the accused.Three persons arrested for theftMeanwhile, Mahadevapura police have arrested three persons who were allegedly preparing to rob people. The police have recovered a China-made pistol, a car, a gold chain, four laptops and mobile phones worth Rs 6.10 lakh from the accused.The accused have been identified as Syed Azam (51), Mohammed Sujath Ali and Varadaraju (30). The three, along with other four associates were trying to rob people during night. The absconding associates are suspected to be sandalwood smugglers and efforts are on to nab them.Among the arrested persons, Varadaraju was working as a car driver for former councilor of Vijinapura, Somesh. A police officer said that the pistol was found in his possession. “It is a China-made pistol and its very rare to find these weapons in the country. Hence, we cant rule out the chances that he might have got it from naxals, as they use china-made weapons. We are investigating to know more about his contacts. As of now, he is saying that he bought it for `10,000 from a person and had planned to sell it,” a officer added.
