Medical representative drowns in Nellai

THIRUNELVELI: A 25-year-old medical representative from Chennai drowned in the Thamirabarani River in Tirunelveli on Sunday.Mohamed Ansari, of Royapuram, was working as a medical representative in Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala. He had come to Melapalayam with some friends. On Sunday morning, when the friends were taking a bath in the Thamirabarani river at Mela Naththam area, Ansari drowned as water level had risen due to the rain, police said.Meanwhile, downpour continued in several parts of Tirunelveli district. S Devasagayam, joint director of Agriculture, Tirunelveli, said around 144 hectares of paddy had been damaged in Tirunelveli district.
